Immunity Claims Removed from Probiotic Drinks and Yogurt
Posted on October 3rd, 2009 No commentsDannonn has recently removed label claims regarding misleading ”immunity” benefits from its probiotic drink line. This comes on the heels of a class action lawsuit that was filled in January 2008. Dannonn had spent 100 million dollars to promote the clinical benefits of DanActive drink and Activia yogurt. It was found that their own data findings were later disproved.
Attorney Timothy Blood later stated “Deceptive advertising has enabled Dannon to sell hundreds of millions of dollars worth of ordinary yogurt at inflated prices to responsible, health conscious consumers.”
Dannonn is now discussing the case with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
