Golf Fitness -Tools of the Trade Part 1
Posted on March 30th, 2010 No commentsWith professional golfers like Tiger Woods and Annika Sörenstam endorsing golf fitness over the past decade or so, it is easy to see why exercise regimens have gained favour with many players on various tours and recreational golfers worldwide.
Your body is the most important equipment that you own and golf is a very physically demand sport. Yes, I said sport (for all you non golfers out there!) Swinging a golf club once generates enough force to fracture a vertabrae in you back! Having said that, you must condition you body properly.
There are a lot of misconceptions out there about how an individual needs to train for golf. Do I train with weights? How many sets and reps? How many times per week? Will yoga or pilates help my game? What other golf gizmos may help me play better? Unfortunately, there is no simple answer (sigh) because everyone has different physical attributes and skill sets. The one great things is that regardless of what level you are at currently, a properly designed golf fitness program will help your game take off.
Over the next few post I will discuss a few tatics and “must have” items to make you play like (insert favourite golfer here). While I cant promise you will get your Tour Card, I know with a little patience you will see improvement in several areas of your golf game.
I welcome your comments, feedback and suggestions. Check back soon for Tools of the Trade Part 2.
