Round 3 of the 2011 Masters -Summary From Augusta National

Rory McIlroy continued his strong play at Augusta during round 3.  McIlory finished Saturday’s round with a 2 under 70. He now sits at -12. K.J Choi and Jason Day are in a group of 4 golfers tied for second at 8 under. Both Day and Choi struggled on Saturday. Day shot an even par,while Choi managed to shoot 1 under. One the flip side of that, Charl Schwartzel, had a good round. The South African shot a 4 under 68. Angel Cabrera also had a very good round of 5 under 67.

Luke Donald and Adam Scott are tied at -7 , while Bo Van Pelt is at 6 under. After gaining ground on Friday, Tiger Woods had a tough round. He could only muster at 2 over 74 on Saturday which dropped him down the leader board. He now is at -5 for the tournament. View Highlights > Here<

Tiger Woods Tied For The Lead At The Barclays After Round 1

TIger Woods managed to shot a round of 6 under 65. This comes just days after Woods divorce was finalized. Tiger is tied with fellow American Vaughn Taylor. Ryan Palmer, Brian Gay and Adam Scott are just one shot back. There is a log jam of 13 golfers sitting at -4.

Martin Kaymer Wins in Playoff at Whistling Straits, Dustin Johnson DQ

The PGA Championship ended with a playoff and some controversy.Going into the final hole, Dustin Johnson, Bubba Waston and Martin Kaymer were tied at -11.  Dustin Johnson had a chance to win but was unable to make par. It looked to be a 3 way playoff.  Enter the controversy. 

After Johnson’s second shot on 18, it was noted that he may have grounded his club in a bunker. The area in question looked like a small worn out area. When the PGA officials reviewed the shot, it was determined that the area in question was in fact a bunker. This earned Dustin Johnson a 2 stroke and took him out of the playoff.

The three hole playoff went on with Bubba Watson and Martin Kaymer. Watson played an aggressive shot on the second hole which landed him in trouble. This opened the door for Kaymer. He put away his putt and won the 2010 PGA Championship.

On a side note, Dustin Johnson’s 5th place finish earned him a place on the Ryder Cup team.

Round 1- 2010 PGA Championship from Whistling Straits

4 tied through partial first round at Whistling Straights. Bubba Watson and Francesco Molinari both are in the clubhouse at -4, while Matt Kuchar and Ernie Els are at 4 under as well. Els and Kuchar have yet to complete the first round due to inclement weather. The remainder of the first round will be played on Friday.

Tiger Woods looks to be returning back to form with a solid score of 1 under after the opening round.
