Cheerios a Drug According to the FDA

General Mills, the maker of popular cereal Cheerios has been reprimanded for it claims that it can “lower cholesterol by 4%” in six weeks. According to the FDA, this is not appropriate because only drugs are allowed to make a medical claims.
General mills had gotten permission to make a health claim several years ago from the FDA but not pertaining to specific percentages and time frames.
